MUSIC

For more information about any of our music programs, please contact our Director of Music Ministry, Brenton Offenback, at brenton@fccstjoseph.org.

Chancel Choir

The “Chancel Choir” is so named because it helps lead worship from the front of the sanctuary (or chancel). This group is open to any who love singing in a choral ministry and want to help enhance the worship of the whole congregation by helping lead singing and provide a special ministry of music during worship services. Though music experience is helpful, it is not necessary.  The choir typically serves from September – May, and rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:45 – 8:15 p.m. and on Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m.

Handbell Choirs

FCC proudly hosts two handbell choirs – Jubilate Ringers (beginner) and Alleluia Ringers (advanced). Both groups participate in monthly worship services (September – May) and special services, typically rehearsing weekly.

Jubilate ring three octaves of handbells and three octaves of handchimes. This choir includes those interested in learning to ring or want to ring more accessible arrangements. Jubilate generally rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Alleluia offers a more advanced bell choir, requiring the ability to read music and ring with some experience.  While focusing on more experienced players, this group still is open for those interested in playing upper-level arrangements and settings. Alleluia typically rehearses on Thursdays from 5:15 – 6:45 p.m. Please contact our Music Director for more info about either of these bell groups!

Concerts

First Congregational Church has a proud tradition of hosting various music events throughout the year for the enjoyment and benefit of the community. From local school choirs and orchestras to university-level musicians, FCC hosts groups during Sunday morning worship and special evening performances. Seasonal tributes like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter also present opportunities for musical excellence. You never know what you may hear when you join us for a concert, from jazz to international styles, there’s always a rich sound coming from our beautiful sanctuary.

Our concerts are always open to the public. Contact the church office for more information.
